Pros

  • Easy to use, can track multiple elements - can paint a full picture on impact across the board.
  • It has good analytics and you can use it to analyise your application to see how it is behaving and if your A/B testing is successful or not.
  • Optimizely's user interface and WYSIWYG editor are easy to use and don't require coding experience, but allows you to get dirty in JavaScript and CSS if necessary.
  • My favorite thing about Optimizely is how easy the results are to understand.
  • The ability to test different experiences across multiple brands at the same time is fantastic.
  • Optimizely experimentation platform with its newest UI update by making the process of setting up and running an experiment seamless.

Cons

  • The character length limit for an event makes naming tracking events a little tricky.
  • Requires writing workarounds to achieve anything remotely useful - if we want to implement a feature and trial it in optimizely, we have to write it around optimizely.
  • From the point of view of my customer, they would like to have a quick and easy way to set up widgets.
  • The average marketer will struggle to use the sophisticated features when trying to build experiments.
  • There are times when the website and the app you can download feel a little unstable.
  • Sometimes the UI doesn't work on optimizely if you don't have the correct optimizely plugin installed and configured.
